Originally by: AveryFaneActual Well... I am having the same problem; amidst corp movement no less. I've cleared cache twice, and it worked; however now it's utterly dead in the water, my system is running in peak condition; so I know it's not on my side Anyone else figured out some ideas as to what to do? Judging by CCPs valiant responses in this thread, I can only assume they're working on things for all of us... an update would be nice though; maybe to let us know where they stand? We all start up, get the splash, and then that's it, right? I'm on a MBPro 2.5, 4g 667ddr, ample HD...... hmmmmm
I would relog in MacOS X if I were you, could be leftovers in memory from a crash that are causing your problems. CCP devs have probably gone to bed by now, you need to wait for tomorrow to get replies I fear.

Originally by: Rosarios So, are you saying that CCP will NOT try to resolve the issues with 10.4.xx users and that its just to bad for us and we have to dish out 100$ to buy the new OS if we wish to continue playing??
10.4 was released 4.5 years ago. The last update to it was released over 2 years ago.
A lot of things have happened to the OS since that time and while I understand that you aren't happy about the situation, what do you expect CCP to do? Devote numerous manpower hours and equipment to test something so outdated?
Out of interest to those it may concern, I seem to recall that you are able to install the "update version" of 10.6 that only costs $29 on Macs running 10.4 too. But I am sure someone can confirm or deny that statement here.

Originally by: Pierre Louis Solana, though we are discussing the Mac client here your comment begs me to bring up the fact that Windows XP SP2 is supported and that it has been released in August 2004. This is more than 5 years ago, yet it is still supported (SP2c was released in 2007, thus about as old as Tiger).
I wonder what were the technical reasons to drop support for Tiger yet maintain it for Windows XP.
I can think of several reasons for this. XP is still the largest Windows in terms of users I believe? Because of that, drivers (like for your videocard) still see updates. A major contributing factor to this is the failure Vista turned out to be I imagine. This is not something that happens on the Mac side.
And specifically videodrivers is a big one. You can't get drivers for your MacOS from any supplier other than Apple, and only when Apple chooses to release something. On the Windows side however, you can grab updates for your card from the actual hardware manufacturer several times per year. No matter what Microsoft themselves are up to. This is something that ends up being a problem for gamers on Macs.

Sound can be turned on again since 1.0.2, if you prefer to hear it.
